I am looking for a cross reference for my back tire which is 180 60 17.
now when i do this only shows one will fit a pirrelli tire does the tire have to be 60 in wide? can I use 55 in wide also?
input would help greatly
Your only options are the Night Dragon, Dunlop GT502, and the new Michelin that comes on the new 12 wide glides. At least I think thats all,,,, Maybe avon? unsure
Depends on how much clearance you have between the sides of the existing tire and your fender. Not only is the 65 series wider, it's also shorter. Check the manufacturers dimensions.
65 is not wider or shorter. The second number is the height ratio to the width. The 180 is the width in milimeters. The 55, 60, 65 and 70 are the percentage of the width do sidewalk height. 55 is the shortest tire and 70 is the tallest. When you go lower in height, the tread width will also be a little wider as the 180 is the total width. I would not change from a 60 though because it will be noticable on height.
Forgot to add that you can change from a 60 to a 55 or a 65 if you go either wider or narrower than the 180. Just multiply the 60 by 180 and that will give you your sidewalk height in mm.
thanks john c much info always welcomed and now im a bit smarter on the tire sizes.
I guess I will have to stick with same size so I am limited on what i can get.
The oem dunlop I did get 10,000 out of it so I guess that is pretty good.
You may be able to go to a 190 or a 200. The 190/60-17 would not be that much taller and a little wider. With the 200, you may have to drop down to a 55 if available. It would be almost identical height. I also meant sidewall not sidewalk. Auto correct on the phone.
