Have been adding hardware here and there and making small changes to my 2000 Dyna FXDX and now am at the point where I'm kinda puzzled.
I want to change the original headlight for a LONGER one, one which pertrudes more outward than what I have. Same diameter but simply longer. Have been looking around and see that this is hard to get with a TOP MOUNT like I presently have.
I see that many people have drilled the triple tree but don't want to go that way if I don't have too.
Is there a place where they sell TOP MOUNT headlights or is there a KIT that you can buy to installer tree mount headlights on TOP MOUNT setups like mine.
Godjunior,
I have an 04 FXD with a top mount eyebrow, and Ive been doing research to switch to a bottom mount headlight, or find a bigger top mount as well. Here are 2 options that I am looking at.
1. 2004+-, Sportster customs(large tank) have a bottom mount headlight tree, you may be able to find one used for cheap.
2. Crime Scene Choppers sells a "J" shaped bracket for about $90.00, It mounts to the bolts where the eyebrow goes and swoops behind the tubes.
Hope this will give you some ideas.
Check joker machine. A little pricey but nice. I waited 3 years to drill mine...It was the easiest mod ever done. I used a headlight from an 04-07 883 custom sportster. Dont forget you need headlight mount too. 04-07 custom sportster as well. That route cost me $100.00
