Default Fender swap question

I am thinking about replacing my rear fender after my tax return comes in. I have found a fender that I like but it comes in 3 width, one of which I know is to narrow (7.125"). Howver the other two width I am not sure which one I should use. I am running a stock width tire on th back and don't plane to go any wider. The two width I have to choose from are 8.250" and 8.625". Can anyone help me with choosing the correct fender width for my 2010 Street Bob?

Thinking about also changing mine. Cant you just measure the distance between the struts?

Measure the width of your fender under the struts. Look for any sign of an angle in the sheet metal from where it bolts to the bottom and choose accordingly.

I have thought about the measurement between the struts only the struts are wider then the fender is when the fenders is removed. When you install the fender it gets pulled out to the struts. The best way to get the measurement is to remove the fender and measure it when it's not under flex stress and in its natural state. I could do this but I was hoping to avoid having to remove the fender then reinstall it again. I was hoping someone already had this measurement or a fender pulled and could measure it. After all there are a good number of peps out there tearing their bikes apart for winter mods.

You have limited choices, when you measure as is, what do you get? If it measures over 9 you know you need the 8.6" if it measures 8.75 you know you need 8.25"

You could also measure towards the back side of the motor area, that area does not stretch when bolted to the struts and compare your measurements.

I just installed a 8.5" onto my '10 Bob no problem. It was just a slight pucker value when installing the freshly painted fender, but there was some play, and I taped the sides really well first. Both will work for you.

You can always use some spacers if need be.
