What did you guys use for risers? I was looking at some 8 or 10in inch mini apes from road 6, but im a big guy at 6'5", and cant help but think maybe the taller ones would be more comfortable. Decisions, decisions! Have you guys been happy with your Road 6 bars?
I dont have road 6 customs bars but ones that are basically the same. Also i have 12" not 14. I am using street bob cables. Me personally would want 2-3" more in cable length. The clutch cable is tight when it comes up the stock right side down tube ( like in my signature pic) I moved it the right side down tube, it gave me about 2" more in slack so, I guess its fine. The throttle cables to me are tight. When parked and the bars are locked to the left the throttle cables are tight. No slack at all. So some say they used street bob bars on 14" bars. Me i would like a little more slack.
I have the R6C 14" bars and I used all stock cables too. Clutch is a bit tight down the stock location, but as the pontiac said, you can move it. As for the throttle and idle tubes, they are very easy to bend the 90 degree fittings into to a straight(er) fitting.
If you're 6'5" and looking something closer to your shoulders, 14s probably wont change your position that much. I'm 5'7" and with them vertical from the triple tree, they are right around shoulder height.
I am very happy with the bars though. They look great, and I got the new aluminum end caps and it looks great with all of the contrast cut that I've got happening.
I think you should go taller, I'm 6' and run the r6c 16" apes. my arms are level with my shoulders. If you do go taller then the only cable I saved from stock was the front brake line. I bought the burly cable kit...it's just ok, takes a while for the clutch cable to break in. Be prepared if you are planning on internally wiring them, have a lot of patience handy, it's a slow process.
