Would it only be hard to start on a cold engine and easy to start on a hot or warm engine? I ask because that is what mine does. Connections at battery are tight, never thought about checking the other side....
Yea when my cable was loose it would have a harder time starting cold because that's when it needed the most amps and since the connection was loose it couldn't get what it needed.
I thought my cable was tight enough and it felt ok. I gave it that extra little turn and it made all the difference in the world.
I had a similar problem which was caused by a short in my wiring which later lead to battery actually going bad. Check the connectors and any splicing work you might have done on your wiring etc.

Thanks, I'll check it tonight when I get home.....
Just checked all the connections. Connections are tight. I havent done any electrical/wiring work myslef. I did have the local harley shop install new handlebars to include cables and wiring harness extentions. Could there be a short there causing the bike not to start?
Beisdes what others have suggested, add a drop or two of blue locktite to each battery termini. Mine had a tendency to come loose often. But the locktite did the job. No problem since.
Problem solved. Thanks for all the quick responses. The quick disconnect for the battery charger was blocking a solid connection to the battery terminals. I put the connections for the quick disconnect closest to the screw head allowing the battery cable to be right against the battery terminal. Bike fired right up! Also, added a little locktite to the screws. Thanks again.
