Default Handlebar HELP!!!

I am putting stock wide glide bars on my 03 FXDL. It came stock with risers. I have the handle bars on but I can not pull enough slack out of the cables for the switches to get them to reach. I don't want to pull to hard and break a wire. I have gotten maybe an inch but am still a bit short. I don't want to pull the stock risers out because it will just put the bars back in the same lower position. Any ideas on how to get the extra slack I need. I have heard there is about 3-4 inches of service cable to play with? I really don't want to buy new switches and cables. I stink at electrical work.

You might find a bit more slack under the tank if you want to remove it. Just make sure you have enough slack when you turn to both sides.

Thanks. I was able to just loosen the tank bolts and pull enough wire to get it. Made sure to turn bars both ways to the stops and so far so good. Tonite I will be putting in the new brake line and new clutch cable and figured might as well throw in one of those e-z clutches. Thanks for all the good tips and help on this forum!!!!!

on my fxdx I had enough slack under my tank to put 12 inch apes on mine

How much do you guys like your apes? I'm 6 ft and I'm looking for some more comfort and of course some style too! I'm not too keen on the stock bars (02 FXD). I have a badlander seat that is breaking in still and getting better.
