2 quick q's
1. I found a set of 14" apes, they are welded 45's at the bottom where they 90 up and then they are bent to 90 to where they come out to each arm. Now what happened is the previous owner he dropped the bike and bent one arm in maybe 5 degrees... its enough to see but its not THAT bad. Where the bend occurred though is in the 90 down below where they have the two 45's welded together from the factory. Now as sketchy as this sounds, but do you think heating up that portion of the bars and trying to tweak them back would be fine as long as i dont crack the weld or deform the bars more? I know i'm already loosing strength in the metal just by heating it, but at the same time, I've also bent back motocross bars back plenty of times to get a few more season out of them. But any insight will be greatly appreciated
2. most people go 5000 miles between oil changes, and i know depending on brand and type it all differs, but besides all that do you think that time spent in the engine really kills the life of the oil considerably? I ask because i only put about 1200 miles on my bike last year and the oil is still clean as it was when i put it in last May, here we are a year later, does it "downgrade" sitting in a motor as compared to sitting in a plastic container?
