Dyna Springer
Cost is somewhat of a concern but I'm able to do all the work myself so that helps. I'm going to look at used Dyna's but I don't know which ones came with mid controls or not and if you can convert a forward control bike to mid controls.
I'm undecided over carburetor or FI but I'm leaning toward the carb. The only reason I'm even considering FI is so I don't have to futz with a choke...
Next question: EVO or TC? I can probably get a better deal on an EVO powered bike and that's what I have now so I'm familiar with them but the TC is the latest and greatest.
The front end will be a Paughco wide springer with shock. Not sure about the wheel size. I love my 21 but I also love the modern "vintage" styling with the same sized front and rear tires, ala the Sportster 48 and others.

Here's one that's kind of what I'm thinking. I'd run a disc brake front wheel, different exhaust, shorter rear fender and probably wouldn't lower it, but it's in the same neighborhood.
How do the vintage style bias ply tires run? I want a bike I can use, not some show piece.
Sounds like what you're looking for. You can convert to a mid control, sell the forward control and probably break even.
