No need to remove the battery if your installing a battery tender harness. Simply remover the battery box cover, disconnect the leads to the terminals, slip on the harness and reconnect. Hope that helps.
One phillips bolt on bottom of cover. The top has a couple of slots in it that line up with some thingamajigs that hold it in place. What the hell do you call those things anyways[sm=smiley25.gif] Anyone?
Not a WG but I just installed the harness on my Bob this weekend. On mine there was a screw at the bottom of the battery box. Take that out, then pull on the bottom a slight bit and the cover comes off. I then took the rubber strap off the battery and pulled it out to facilitate the wire routing. Then installed the harness to the battery and routed them out the back of the battery compartment. Tight fit though on my Bob.
Don't feel bad Bob. It took me 21 months before I figured out how to do it on my 05 Super Glide. It was only when I disconnected the negative cable from the other end (not the negative post) did it loosen and slip out with a lot of coaxing and prying. On the 05 Super Glide thereare 2 bolts, 1 horizontal and 1 vertical next to the igition switch under the seat that both had to be loosened to drop thebattery tray . I believe an ignition on a Wide Glideare on the forks. Before that, I smartened up and bought a battery tender. I installed a pig tail connection for easy connect/disconnect for cold nightsI still could not get at that negative terminal. I wound up grounding the negative wire to a screwon the frame.
Bob,do 2 things. Everyone who's been there will agree on this.
1. Get a Battery Tender ( It will not cook your battery like a charger might)
2.Buy a service manual from the dealer. I will pay for itself.
1. Once you get the battery out find a shelf and stick in the corner so it's out of the way.
2. Go buy yourself an Oddysey gel battery.
3. Install it and forget about it for 7 to 10 years (at least, according to the warranty).

There's not a lot of spare room in the battery compartment, so you have to get most of the wire out of there. The battery tender has a flat fuse case that will clear OK if you press it up against the face of the battery above or below the strap.
Best chance of clearance on my bike (Super Glide) comes by routing the battery tender cable out the same hole as the red starter lead. There's just a tad of space to the side where the lead is routed to the battery and there's enough space to run a battery tender cable and the cable for the Gerbing's heated clothing.
All this is fresh in my mind because I was just re-routing the cables yesterday. I wanted to bring the heater cable out the back of the seat area (This is my third one -- the other two cooked themselves on the cooling fins of the rear cylinder.) For that location, you want to come up out of the top of the battery box. I takes a little finesse to get the battery back in the box, but it can be done without crimping or crushing anything.

My HD battery has given up again....that's now 2 scrap in just 18 months of ownership...!*!*!*!
So, I've just looked these up, and they sound like just what I need to get instead... :-)
