I enquired at my Local HD stealer as to how much it would cost for a wide tyre conversion on my new bob , £384.00 pound was the answer , apparently you can fit a 180 tyre to the same rim giving some 20mm more width to the tyre with no other modifications.
I recently replaced the rear tyre on my CBR600 Rice Burner for £117 and straight away thought are my dealers taking the Pi$$ here or is there more to the job than they are letting on.
Any body have any ideas ? Is it as simple as just fitting a Wider tyre or is there more to it ?
Buy the tire, skip the kit. The only thing you need to do is check the clearance between the tire and the hardware for the fender trim. I have quick detach hardware for my removable rack and sissy bar. I tossed the original bolts that came w/ the detachable kit and used 'elevator bolts' (a type of thin, flat-sided carriage bolt).
If your hardware is stock, it should clear. You will really enjoy the bigger tire -completly fills the fender well and looks mean!
