I'd be cautious with the "cut it down" theory. I currently have two windshileds, the first came with the bike (i bought it used). The previous owner tried the cut it down method, it looked horrible. It's amazing just how OCD you can get about "minor" imperfections when you are trying to enjoy your ride.

I'm 5'-10" and got the tall one. I've installed it high on
the triple tree because of the fork mounted tool bag. The
top of the screen is just below eye level. It took a little getting
use to, but I'm really liking it now. I get just a small amount
of buffeting over 55 MPH, but not bad. I did at one point
remove the tool bag and dropped the screen about 2 inches.
Buffeting was real bad. So I think you might be better off with
tall one. IMO

 

I'm 5'8" and use the Harley short detachable windshield. I like to have a good view over the top and it still cuts down the wind. It's the one in my sig picture.

 

You can adjust it on the triple tree, so I suggest youbuy the high one and adjust it so you are looking a couple of inches above the top.

 

i think i will go high thanks i will see if i can get them to hold it in front of a dyna when i buy it
