Please wear a helmet.

My friend had an accident last weekend when a female driver in a car pulled out in front of him. He and his good lady both went over the bonnet (hood) of the car. At the time he was wearing a full face Bell carbon Fibre helmet. The result was the helmet was cracked and so was the foam inside, if he wasn't wearing a helmet he would be dead, it's as simple as that.

You may be the best rider in the world, but you never know when that car is gunna pull out in front of you or side swipe you. It may be never, but I for one would never risk it.

Screw a helmet, you don't need one until the moment of impact... At least you will look cool until then..

California doesn't leave us anything to debate. You guys are lucky. There is no better feeling than when I cross that border into Arizona and immediately unlatch the strap and hand the helmet back to the wife on the back.

I have to most of the time...going to work etc. (I live in Mass.) But the nice part is I literally live 1/2 mile from Conn. line so I can blast up the street and go lidless. May or may not matter in the end but I always wear one on the highway but if its nice out and im hitting some backroads I go without. My kids bitch at me if they see me leave the house without so sometimes I get guilted into it. I do however like to have the OPTION!!

when I lived in CO I occasionally wore a helmet for 2 reasons, wind and rain. I dont have a choice in OR. Eat healthy, exercise daily and die anyway.

Have 1/2, 3/4, and full, weather/riding dependent. I'm most partial to the full face, had an accident where I went over the bars and landed straight on my face, full face helmet saved me from using my molars as brakes. But feeling the wind in my face on a 100+ degree day does feel nice.

No choice in the UK unless you are on a trike however the shieks dont have to on religious grounds as you cant get one over a turban.

First off, I'm 100% opposed to helmet laws. But I wear one 100% of the time. No choice in OR., but when I lived in AZ for a couple years, still wore one. Even in the heat of summer. I've lost friends both ways. One was a workout buddy & powerlifter. Dropped his WG when some f-in idiot pulled out in front of him. Both him & his GF were in f/f Shoei's. 45mph, he died of head injuries in the lifeflight helo, she walked away w/ minor road rash. With highway speeds, it may not matter if your wearing one. Its the slow speed, parking lot, brain-freeze tipovers that can get you. Where it might not scratch the paint off a helmet, but w/o one and your dead, or worse, a veggie for life. Couple weeks ago, I caught a rock in my face shield. Barely nicked the shield. But I wouldda gone down HARD if I/d been helmet-less or even wearing a 1/2 or open 3/4.

About the only time I see more "no helmets" is maybe on a "bike night".

I was wondering how many of you wear a helmet and even don't have to?
I wear a FF all the time and won't consider riding without one. I live in Illinois and there is no helmet law here. My reasons for using a helmet go beyond just accidents and safety. The helmet keeps the bugs from exploding on my face and debris and I also like the anonymity plus I always wanted to be Darth Vader. My Sith force choke is effective on cell phone users and other bad drivers. Kinda freaks people out.

Lets ask Indian Larry what he thinks????? I went down for the first time after 40 years a couple of years ago with a helmet on...No helmet, that would have been it...I don't have to when I'm at my place in New Hampshire, but I always wear a short carbon/fiber. I like being alive, it's cool.
Spring/fall cold weather switch to a 3/4...warmer
