Default Dash panel Swap help

So I got a used Chrome dash panel for my WG but did not know that they removed the toggle switch for the speedo on the 2012 model that my 2011 has. So now I will need to drill a hole and what wondering what is the best way to go instead of bringing it to a shop.

Drill it out and keep it moving.

I was wondering too if I should punch it first and then drill it I guess to prevent the drill from going all over the place.

For the drill bit titanium seems to be the choice from what I'm hearing ?

What are you going to do with your stock black dash? I have a -11 WG which I have been looking for a black dash. Is yours for sale?

Default New Dash

Yes you should punch it. I would measure from the old dash to get the location and use a piece of soft wood under where you are punching so the metal doesn't dent or cave in.

I would use a stepped cone bit (Unibit).

Another suggestion ... after using a punch or nail to locate the center ... use a smaller drill bit first ...

if the small hole is a little off your center, use a Dremel tool to 'center' the hole by removing material on the opposite side to which the hole is offset ... then drill out to the final hole diameter needed ...
