SUCESS! finally!!!!
I posted earlier this week about trying to get the guts of my fuel tank so i could repair a couple of failed spot welds on the piece under the dash. Did get some responses from this forum , thanks guys, eventually called Doyle s Harley in Eugene Oregon. The guy who answered the phone turned me over to a Tech, which in turn took the time to explain the proper way, and what to do to unlatch the fuel pump from the piece under the dash. After talking to him, i went to the shop and the second try had it out. It's welded now, and i'm waiting to finish the project as soon as i get a new set of top cover screws
, so, after about 5 days of frustration, i'm a happy camper.
I was also able to clean the inside of the tank as well, it did have a little crud in there that shouldn't have been there.

Hey Nightrider2,
It pays to be able to talk to a tech who knows what to do. By explaining it to you, he now has another loyal customer. Some places just don't get that.
Enjoy and Ride Safe.
