in a few of a neighbor states if you get pulled over and do not have a horn it is considered an unsafe vehicle and they will impound your bike on site... i have had them check my horn on every single stop in IL and to my knowledge it is not a requirement... my brother on his chopper used to carry a whistle on his vest in case they asked him... seen it done man, not sure if you ever seen a bike draggd up a flat bad when they impound it, but here they are not very gentle

I moved mine in front the rear wheel. Made a bracket and bolted just under the swing arm

I moved mine...cowbell and all... to the down bars behind the forks
I like it there....it also has the factory horn removed and the compressor for my Howards Horns. The cow bell hides the compressor.

No mod needed, I used the hole in the cross brace where the crash bar would normally mount. No fender interference either....I also have a 2 inch drop in the forks

While you're at it just go ahead and remove the brakes too.

When I took my motorcycle test in Illinois back in 1990 (was 18) I borrowed my buddy's bike and the horn didn't work because the wires were toasted. The instructor wasn't going to pass me unless I got it working so I had to strip some wires with my teeth and hold them to the contacts with one hand and hit the button with the other to get the tiniest honk. The b*tch passes me but I would guess that you are right on it being required but not 100% sure.

I guarantee you once I have it set up you will hear my horn over your bike no matter how stupid the exhaust is on your bike. More importantly, the 4 and more wheelers will hear it.
