I could not find a thread on this forum. I apologize if there is an existing thread. I will move if someone can point me in the right direction.
I removed the air compressor style horn and installed piaa sport horns and moved them to the front of the bike. Different pitch and seems like they may be a little louder as well which is always nice!
here are the pictures:
While I agree that the location of the horn to the front of the bike is a good concept as far as being heard, I have replaced a few that were in the stock location. I can only guess their failure was due to being exposed to the elements/rain.
The air horn on my Road Glide recently stopped working but suspect something electrical there. Hoping it is related to the fog lamps not working as well and can kill 2 birds so to speak. Both came on the bike when bought used.
Plenty of clearance on my setup, impossible for fender to contact. Horn sound channel rolls off the bottom, no water issue either. Puts the noise in the direction I like. Low note, high note, and factory horn makes an interesting chorus. $25 from Amazon, BTW.
My only concern would be if there is enough clearance when the fender comes up on the fork travel.
I ran it out tonight with several hard stop with the front brake only. I bottom the forks out and they did not come in contact. Looks like we are good to roll. 👍

Your concern is correct at least on a Rushmore bike.
I relocated the OEM horn to the cross brace above the oil cooler knowing full well the concern you mention from a past bike.
I then put some REALLY cushy soft 3m tape on the edge of the horn and slammed the brakes to make the front fork dive while my wife watched, slowly increasing the dive a little at a time, one last attempt made the tape contract the fender.
I shaved 1/2 inch off the horn with a fine tooth saw, horn sounds like crap now but still works and honestly dont know if it ever served any purpose for me anyway.
With that said, I just bought a flat "pancake" Wolo horn to put in its place which I know will never contact the fender.
Onechance - Nice job, Im curious about those PIAA horns. I moved my OEM to the location you have those Piaa. (Read post above) Looks like you have plenty of clearance too?
I bought your standard pancake Wolo horn to put there not knowing about the PIAA but I also wanted the OEM out of there for clearance.
