http://huntington.craigslist.org/mcy/3285715458.html I'm looking at a starter bike. 3 kids in college, don't have a boat load of cash. This bike has a salvaged title but the seller has ridden it 4 yrs with no problems. He's 65 and it's hurting his back. I know so very little about what I'm looking at and I would appreciate your observations. Thanks, Tony
Oh yea, I'd want to look it over closely, as well as ride it. I'm wondering about resale value. Everybody moves up and on. I can't think that it could loose much value as long as I take care of it. I don't know how the salvaged title enters into things.
Salvage titles aren't very bothersome to me if documentation can be shown as to what happened with the bike, also i feel the price should be lower based of the year and the salvage title.
The bike is 24 years old. I wouldn't be able to care less about a salvage title. At some point it just doesn't really matter. If it is a decent bike and feels right during inspection, it is a very decent deal.
B.T.W. If someone drops a brand new H-D on it's side and bends the tab on the frame that the upper portion of the engine guard attaches to, the bike is totalled for frame replacement. That is all it takes to generate a salvage title.

This is what the seller said too. Also ins. cos. are quick to total a bike for liability reasons. We talked at length and he bought it because the price was right and he was just wanting a fun rider that didn't bust the bank. I'm thinking that if I don't like it or want t move up to bigger and better, I'd still be good.
