Default tool to remove tranny fill plug?

I cannot seem to find anything that can be used to remove the Transmission plug which is need to fill the transmission. Looks like a HEX head but its big and all of my HEX toold are alot smaller. Stopped at Sears and they did not have anything that big. The Dyna manual does not say what tool or size it needs.

Any idea guys?

Mine is a 3/8ths allen wrench. The largest one in s Sears SAE standard 10 piece set.

My guess; the sears tool guy you talked to was probably from the appliance depatment.

Hope this help.

Best wishes....Tim(HT)

Mine is a 3/8 hex head. You can use an Allen wrench

I use a 3/8" hex socket on a 4" extension. Just don't crank it too tight. I used to use a 3/8" allen key, but got sick of burning my knuckles trying to thread the thing back in.

Do the math. .376 is only .001 more than 3/8ths. It is a 3/8hs chrome Allen socket set screw

After getting the 25k service on my 07 FXDC at the stealer I rode it 15 miles, got a beer and noticed that the rear tire was covered with fluid. Turns out it was the tranny fill bolt had come loose and squitered fluid all over the left side from the tranny. I managed to borrow a tiny swiss army type knife from someone and managed to tighten it enough to stop the leak. The stealer appolosized and tightened it to the correct tightness and cleaned up the mess.

S*** happens. I've heard of this happening about other mistakes but didn't believe it till it happened to me. Thankfully I wasn't on a trip and wouldn't have noticed till all the fluid was gone, and all the problems appeared, etc. Somehow they would have blamed me.

I'm only talking about 15 miles! I can't believe it!

Aren't they supposed to take it for test run to make sure it's all set?
Another good reason to do your own service.
Makes you think what else did they forget.
