My bike in full touring mode. I STILL get buffeting. Disclaimer: This picture was taken before the test ride. Lower deflectors were mounted too low on the forks and interfered with the suspension, so they had to get shifted up. I rode the bike for 10 minutes on the highway, came home and took them off. Perhaps with some testing I can get the buffeting to go away, but I haven't bothered since it's so ugly like that. It did reduce the buffeting by about 90%.
I was wondering how the rifle lowers worked out, I have a Memphis Batwing on my 2006 Wide Glide. I have learned that here in Oklahoma, the faring goes on in October & stays on until it gets warm in the spring. I am looking for lowers because even with the batwing, I get air shooting up from about my knee & hits me right in the face.

That's what I wanted to hear. If I can get rid of 90% of the buffeting I'll be very happy.

I'm still waiting for the Rifle lowers to arrive, but will report back once I get them installed and test them out. If the lowers don't do the trick I plan on getting a Batwing to replace the windshield. My experience with my old Road King was that the lowers/wind deflectors make a huge difference in reducing most of the buffeting
Has anyone installed a Mephis Shades Batwing fairing on a pre 2006 FXDL?
I have decided to install some kind of a fairing/windshield on my 2004 FXDL Low Rider but Memphis Shades only seems to have nothing for a pre 2006 model apparently due to the fork size. I have 39 mm forks and starting in 2006 the fork size wend to 49 mm, I believe.
Also has anyone got a photo of the black Batwing fairing on an FXDL? I love the naked, stock look but I need some wind protection and the Batwing looks awesome if it fits.
