Very difficult transition to make as my Dyna was quite a lot more bike. Vacillating back and forth over keeping the Sporty, but figured to at least try to get used to it.
Anybody ever had to pull back and get a less costly bike?
**** happens, you'll enjoy your Sporty if you give it a chance and eventually you'll be back on a Dyna when things get better for you if that's what you want.
After a divorce I sold my much loved 2001 Low Rider then bought a 50th Anniversary Sportster, I had a lot of fun on that bike for a couple years but missed my Dyna. Last year got a Super Glide Custom and I'm really enjoying the new bike. I'm sure I didnt make the best moves financially speaking but at the end of the day who cares, you can't take it with you.
You gotta do what you gotta do. I'm glad you were able to hold on to enough to pick up a sporty. Hopefully with less debt you can muster up enough dough to upgrade again. Im sure the sporty will do you good till then.
At least you are still on two wheels. Wise decision dumping the credit imo. I had a real tough time a few years ago with credit and won't buy anything that I've not got the cash for now.
What about an earlier Dyna? An early twin cam has got to be a similar value to your 06 sporty?
I did the same thing. Dropped my dyna in order to free up some capital. Wound up with a sweet little sporty and honestly I'm loving it. My dyna did everything right, never a complaint..but was always a little unwieldy and just kinda too big for me. I've been flipping this sporty around for then last week and I'm back in love with riding again. Put some effort into the little twin and youll wind up really enjoying it and barely missing the dyna.
I would just not ride for a while and save for what I want, there's a lot of inexpensive entry level big twins on Craigs List. A normal sized person doesn't fit on a Sportster, I know, I tried.
