If i install cams on my 103 will the power difference be night and day? Will it blow by a stock 103? Been reading about the TW-555 and 777 which seem to be popular and make good power. Are these good choices? Thanks and i'm open for suggestions...
Some would claim they would be a little soft on the bottom with stock squeeze but depends how you ride. Should be fine in a 103 and light bike. Yes it will be a pretty big difference. Should pick up around 15+ hp and 10+ ft lbs. Yes it will walk a stock 103 assuming weight and rider skill are even.
I have Andrews TW48H cams and it is night and day difference. Call Andrews and talk to them about a cam. They deal in cams all day long and will tell you what to use.
I install the 555 in my stock 96 with a good 2 Into 1 exhaust and it was soft in the bottom. realy noticable between 2000 and 2500 rpms after that it ran like a raped ape.
it easily blows by stock 103 and i beat a fatboy with a 106 s&s kit with stock heads and andrews 26 cams.
If you are plan on touring then the SE 255 cams are a good choice. This is the 110 factory cam. Gives you good low end but limited to hp.
If you want to get your monies worth then consider higher compression.
Even with 10:1 you can get a lot more for your money.
Big HP numbers mean nothing if you don't have torque to back it up. Torque is what you feel in the seat of the pants, HP keeps it there.
