I have no experience with either yet, but was thinking of having a gell insert done on my seat. Last week I was advised by someone in the custom seat business that a lot of people have been bringing their seats to them to have the gell removed & replaced with aircraft foam. They said that the gell, after a while starts to form fit to your butt cheeks so much that you start to feel like you're riding with a load in your pants. It got me re-thinking about the gell & I'm going to probably try the foam instead. I don't know if that helps or not.

I dunno if this helps either, but was thinking . . . . . I know memory foam sure feels good on a bed. And they haven't really made any gell mattress toppers have they? Maybe theres a reason for that . . . .

just my thoughts from a different perspective other than bikes . . . another industry may shed light for us here

I have a friend that has the foam crap in his seat and he really likes it. However even though he can ride longer than he used to after 5-600 in a day he complains of his *** hurting. I just simply bought the HD tour seat for the WG and after 7-800 in a day I'm still feeling fine. Just my opinion though.

I have the LePera Bare Bones with the Biker Gel. I love it. I have ridden 300+ miles in a day. I also have a Corbin Gunfighter and Lady which has Comfort Cell Foam it is much firmer but comfy. I have not done any long rides on it yet.

I had a gel seat on my last bike it was/is real comfortable except if you leave it sitting out in the sun then it's like sitting on a burner plate. This can be remedied by a light colored seat cover or just draping a light colored cloth over it any time you park in the sun.
