Got this following from the "Detailing" section. Made sense to me. Hope it works.

I saw a post where some guy was having trouble getting melted tennis shoe off his pipes. He let a buddy talk him into using oven cleaner on the pipes. Needless to say it went on other parts and now he’s got problems. I thought that I would share a trick that I thought up and use from time to time. Maybe it’s not new, but I’ve never heard anyone else recommend it. I warm the bike up and then I wad aluminum foil about the size of a golf ball and scrape the gunk off. The aluminum is harder than the melted plastic and softer than the chrome. It works like a charm for me. Try it in a hidden area first to be sure. Hope this is useful info.
