That sounds very high.

I bought an 05 WG well before the 06's came out, got the EFI option and out the door was around 18K. An 05 now should be less than I paid.

20,000 is high for any HD except an Ultra Classic. Go to the HD web page and look at MSRP. Anything added to MSRP more that about 700.00 for shipping and setup is high. The 2006's are out, so there should be a little better pricing on a 2005.

MSRP for a WideGlide is about 17,500. My EG Classic was 18,435.00 before I started adding the Bling.

Regards,

Bill

Our local dealership is selling all 2005's for MSRP plus an in store credit of $700.

I think it might depend on where in the country you buy it. I'm in New Hampshire, which apparently has the highest % of riders in the country. I picked up my 05 Wide Glide in April for about 19,5 with all the bells and whistles; I shopped around a little before I signed and found one for 18,5, which I used a little as bartering power. They threw me a gift certificate for $500. Yet, at the time MSRP was 16,999. After the fact, I found the same bike in Vermont for 17,5. They got you by the short hairs; but we don't buy these things to save $, and I wouldn't trade my ride for anything.

I would do as has already been thought of, check out the HD website and see what their prices are and maybe check out some other dealers in the area if their are any. Good luck

I like to save money any time I can, and that includes buying a new motorcycle.

If you are in an area where the prices are 2 or 3 thousand more than MSRP, shop around. You might have to travel a few miles to save 2 thousand, but that lets you have a nice trip as well as putting some change in your pocket for other things.

The only reason these dealers are gouging like they do is because people will pay it. They don't have us by the short hairs anymore. Not with hundred of shops nation wide selling for MSRP. With this forum, and the internet in general, people should be able to get good deals on bikes if they are willing to do a little work, and maybe travel a little. If we all start doing that, and not buying from the gouging dealers, they will be forced to bring their prices into reason.

If I am at dealer that gouges and see a salesman trying to sell a bike for an over inflated price, I try to get the guy aside and let him know that he can make a better deal. Doesn't make me real popular with some dealerships I have been in, but with those kinds of dealers, I don't care if I'm popular of not.

Regards,

Bill
