I hate those heavy breather air cleaners, they are everywhere. They are the new Hypercharger imo.

I have a Crime Scene Choppers item but I wouldn't recommend it for performance. It's pretty though lol

I would go for an S&S teardrop an Arlen Ness big sucker with a simple round cover

Thanks for all the replies

See on the S&S, that's where I'd be worried the tear drop would relocate my knee cap pretty easily

I'm kinda coming full circle with my setup. I love the exposed filter look, but am kinda tired of the upkeep that comes with having to constantly clean and oil a filter that's exposed to the sun, wind, rain, and dirt. It's not like it's a lot of work cleaning and oiling a filter, but one less thing to worry with.

I might switch back to an enclosed cover once I find one I like.

Someone mentioned S&S. I recently added one to my bike:

I like the added performance (along with Supermeg and XiEDs). It sticks out about the same as stock - so you can feel it against your leg. It does not bother me, but neither did the stock air cleaner.

Where'd you find one in black like that? I dig it.

The only thing you have to be aware of with the 587 that I wasn't, is that the vent bolts that screw into the heads that vent to the air rather than the intake. They release a fine oil mist with sustained high-speed running, that condenses on the carb (from the front bolt) and has to be wiped off after each ride. That happens even if the oil level is correct. Not a big deal, but there it is.

Thank you for the reco! On the oil, this is true for some, but not for most. There are also other venting options for the 587 if your bike happens to vent more oil than average.

subscribed.

for you guys that have the stock football cover cut so its just the inner circle, what filter/other parts did you use? I like the look of that, kind of factory but smaller.

i want something low key like the second one or the DK in the video. Don't want oil on my bike though...
