Default Accident

I'm not new to the forum but do not remember posting before in any sections so let me first introduce myself. My name is Adam and I have a "motorcycle problem".

I currently ride a 2009 Dyna and 2005 vstar 1100. I also had a 2006 Sportster and 2004 Honda cb599 but sold them this past month because I didn't have enough time to ride all four bikes.

So earlier tonight I was out riding my dyna and came to a stop sign. A car behind me did not stop in time and bumped my bike. The car's bumber came in contact with my rear tire only, launching my bike forward about a foot or two. I applied the brakes and was able to keep the bike uprigh and not dumping it.

We exchanged information and I rode away. But now I can't sleep and am concerned that there might be damage.

I'll take the bike to the dealer to get checked out tomorrow morning but in the mean time, what kind of damage could a hit to the rear tire cause?

If you were able to keep it upright & drive home without noticing anything in drivability, I'd guess the hit wasn't hard enough to do any damage, however, I wouldn't bet my life on it & would get it checked out.
Glad you're OK.

I would inspect rim and make sure its not bent or has a flat spot. Also check all spoke for broken or bent. Make sure rear rim is also aligned properly and double check belt tension

Thanks guys. I'll ask the dealer to check the wheel tomorrow.

F that... I'm sure a good lawyer could do wonders!

I kid I kid... I hate those types. But I also hate those that cannot share the road with bikes...

I very much doubt there is any damage, you'd hit a pothole harder than the car hit you by the sounds of it. You don't need the dealer, just spin the wheel to check its still true and if ya got spokes hit each one in turn with a spanner to check they all go "ting" and not "dong".....Harleys are tough old things :-)

You want to talk about accidents? This is an accident!

Drive safe :-)

IDK, but I would have the dealer check the tranny as well as the rear wheel and tire. Should be on their nickel.....

Glad you are ok, they are working three shifts making bikes, the rest is the important stuff...
