Default Looking to improve

Hi all,
I bought my first Harley less than two weeks ago and am very much enjoying it. I am looking to put a sissy bar on it with a backrest for my wife. Since I am new to the Harley world (been riding off and on for about 15 years) I am not sure if I need to be looking at bars specifically for my bike or the Dyna Family, or will any bar work on a stock rear fender. I also have a skull L.E.D. fuel gauge that doesn't seem to work. I have found that there seems to be a lot of these gauges that do not work correctly. It seems that most people are just using their trip odometer to figure out how much fuel they have. I have been doing that and it seems to work fine. However, if anyone has figured out a fix for it, i would be interested in giving it a try.
Thanks for the feedback

Even though it is listed in my Garage, I have a 2004 Dyna Low Rider that appears to be stock with the exception of a few decorative pieces, some auxilliary lighting, and a set of Screaming Eagle II pipes.

First you'll need to get sideplates for your bike. Either rigid or detachable, if you go with detach, then you'll need the docking hardware also. Then choose a sissy bar. Looks like there are 4 sissy bars listed that will fit your bike.

If you are not planning on removing it I would consider the rigid mount. It goes behind the fender strut and has a much cleaner look to it.
You can get the rigid mount then the back rest or you can get a one piece that has both made or welded together.
This will give some to look at from HD. After market makes them to.

Just click on backrests and racks

If I end up putting quick release bags, can I use the ridgid mount sideplates? I would like to be able to put bags on when I need the storage but I plan on leaving the sissy bar on all the time. It looks like the mounting points are the same but I don't know if one is affected by the other. It looks like the side plates are only for mounting the sissy bar.
