I need some help with what types of exhausts everyone is using. I have Screaming Eagle Slip-on mufflers and wanting to install a full exhaust system to add more performance and sound. The slip-on mufflers performed well on the dyno, but it was suggested a good 2 into 1 system will perform better. Can anyone give me some ideas? Looking for performance and louder, deeper sound. I have a 2008 Fatbob, S&S 106 Big Bore kit, stock cams, SE Heavy Breather air cleaner.
Any ideas will help
Sound is a very personal thing, no one can pick for you on that basis. Go hang out at a dealers or other Harley place and listen to the bikes arrive. Find a bike that sounds good to you and check the brand of pipes on it.
As for performance. Yes, there's something to be found with 2-1 system but don't be surprised at how relatively little it is. A couple of HP maybe. However, the "its louder so must be quicker" factor will probably convince you it now has much greater performance.
Also look at the Thunderheader and the Supertrapp 2-1 exhausts.
I have the V&H Pro Pipe and I love it. But to be honest, I don't know of anyone on the forum that doesn't like their 2-1 pipe, regardless the brand and model. As far as I'm concerned, they all must be pretty damn good for a group like this to NOT have any complaints. I really believe you could draw straws for a 2-1 and end up loving the sound and performance.

All the info you need is in those two replies!
However for loud low sound + performance I believe the D&D fatcat grabs first with the thunderheader a close second.
Everyone Thanks for the information. This gives me more to start from. I have been looking around at other bikes and have seen and heard most of these pipes, but this forum gives me better confidence coming from other riders and their opinions. I do agree sound is up to the individual, but performace is were to start. Thanks again for the information.
Great answers so far....the 2-1 perform so close that you can almost pick the ones you want by the looks. I liked the looks of the propipe...the sound and performance is awesome. By the way, I have a friend that has the same bike and same year but 2-2 pipes. He put a cam in his and my motor is stock. The same guy dyno'ld both of them and mine came on top without the cams
NIce Bike! I ahve been looking into the Propipe and it got the looks also from what I am hearing from others it had performance plus the sound. Thanks for the information
The funny thing is I havent seen many bikes running 2-1 by me. Most are 2-2 or something custom.
I personally dont like the sound from the 2-2, its very loud and higher pitched. Any 2-1 I heard had a deeper sound and I really liked that. Sure the 2-2 look better(IMHO) but thats just one of the three benefits to me. If the 2-1 sound better and produce even an inkling of more power then there is the 2-1 in terms of benefits(see what I did there?).
Anyway, Im running the V&H Big Radius 2-1 and I think its an awesome setup and I havent seen it on another bike(in person) since getting it.
I got mine from directcycleparts.com (a forum sponsor) they had the best price and free delivery. Had the pipes in 4 days. I paid 474 total but I think all the vance and hines pipes have had a price increase.
