The first time I start up my scoot for the day (Dyna 2009 FXD), it starts up just fine and runs okay after a few minutes warm-up.
When I get to where I am going and park the bike, the second time I start up the scoot, it is always a hard, noisy start. On a couple of occasions it refused to start up at all (have to wait a few minutes before it would start). However, the scoot always seems to run MUCH smoother after the second time I start it for the day. The points where the bike wants to shift gears also are changed somewhat.
As far as I can tell from what I can find from the forums, this may be due to starting up the scoot while the engine is hot. Is this an indication that my scoot is running too lean or that something else needs to be adjusted?
I've had a very similar problem on my bike since new, almost like the timing is suddenly a bit out of wack and feels like the motor is pounding instead of purring. In my case it doesn't seem to matter what time of day or how many starts.
After 3 dealer visits and 2 Indy visits no one yet has a clue to what it is. Still looking for a cause and solution, but the bike so far doesn't seem to be any worse for it.
