I am purchasing my first Harley this month, a Dyna Low. Have owned several and always wanted the American Harley. The only mod I am planning initially are exhaust slip-ons for a better sound. Not interested in a rocket bike, a lot of extra HP, fancy chrome. Just a nice ride.
Do I need to worry about any additional tuning? I have read a lot about custom maps to be downloaded and lots of expensive tools, dyno tuning etc....
Bought my 06 Street Bob October last year with 600 miles on the clock and some more sensible bars on it
I love it! Rode it through the British winter without it missing a beat, though the finish could be better..
Buy one you won't regret it just keep it clean!!
I used to ride British or Jap Plastic Fantastics (last one GSXR 1100 slabside with full race tune) but realised that at 40 I was going to kill myself sometime if I did not slow down... that said the Bob ain't too slow anyway and handles well too for its size
Congrats on your new bike. I just bought my first Harley this winter and had similar questions. I just wanted a little more sound, not worried about enhanced performance.
I wondered aboutinstalling slip-ons without re-maps or EFI tuners. Based on the help from the guys on here, i got the mufflers and installed them with no other mods. It sounded so much better. This is not what I ultimately want, but its a good start.
I have gotten some popping on deceleration. I purchased an EFI tuner in hopes that once it is installed, I could rid the bike of the slight popping. This work will be done the next warm weekend we have.
In short, this lengthy post was meant to tell you that just adding slip-ons on my Superglide did affect the way it ran.

Welcome - LOL at the above statement. When I bought mine - I too said "this is it - no extras"......
Well - maybe a chrome dash panel......
Well - maybe a chrome battery box ....
forwards ....
slipons ....
air cleaner ....
fuel management system ......
seat .......
front end .....
Congrats on the new Lowrider. Love mine. I am still looking into your question of exhaust. I am to the point where I think I would also like to justget some slipon's for better sound. If I am going to have to get retuned I might as well go ahead and get new air also. When you get the bike post some pic's and let us know what you decide on the exhaust.
