Switchback Panniers Issue
Hi All,
A while ago I posted here about a problem I seemed to be having with my switchback. Twice at speed I'd lost a pannier. It seems no one else had this problem, but me. Both times it happened, it did at speed, on a country bumpy road.
I've just got my new pannier and was inspecting the lock connector. What I noticed, while locked, a simple press down on the latch which sits proud the bracket, with very small amount of motion, and low and behold it pops out and unlocked. That does not seem right to me.
I've uploaded a video here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gf2IB...ature=youtu.be
I'd appreciate your views.
Thanks,
Mark

when you turn the inside latching mechanism it should it should not only turn but drop in to a seated position so when removing them you have to pull out and then to the left to unlock.. if yours arent doing this ( which it doesnt look like it is) take it back to the dealer as something is wrong.. again they are a positive lock when working correctly
this it the brand new pannier. I looked at the lock as the bracket looked different from my old one. Comparing it to my other they were the same. And I thought I'll just check this as it is spring loaded.
A slight press and if you slide it up a fraction, the lock slips and the bolt catches. A quick flick and it's open.
I've lost two of these. The first time I thought right I had made a mistake. The second I know I hadn't. Harley so no problem. This is a brand new panier I've just got from them.
Check yours if you get a mo, see how much play there is.
