I go to leave work today I get to the first stop sign hit the brakes and stop.I go to go again and I can feel the bike not wanting to move thats when I noticed that the foot brake didnt return back to its normal position and the brakes were dragging.I had to pull the foot brake back to release the rear brakes.I got home, tried the rear brakes again and same thing.
Any ideas,bad mastercylinder, caliper ?
I saw you have a 2011 WG in another thread. So the fix is easy. You'll need a drill or rotary tool with a sanding bit. You will need to remove your right foot peg. Behind this footpeg is a torx head bolt. Remove this. But be careful not to strip it out with the wrong size socket. Once that's out, your brake pedal should be free except for the part that connects it to your rear brake rod. You'll have to get the clevis pin out. Now that all that is done you can confirm what I suspect: the brake pedal is not rotating smoothly even though nothing is connected to it. There's a plastic bushing that it rides on. I had to use a dremel and sanding bit to ream out the plastic bushing. Once that was done I bought some high temp grease and lubed it up. Re-assembled with loctite where appropriate and has not been an issue since.
Yes it is a 2011 Wide Glide With forward controls. When I got home from work I didn't have time to mess around with it. Well I'm home now and I cannot get it to Stick like it was. Thanks for the info guys I'll definitely give that a try
Mine always came and went with heat from outside and heat from the engine. Best to take care of it. When I was done sanding and greasing the plastic bushing, the metal keyed piece removed to access the plastic bushing slid right in, whereas I had to knock it out with a mallet before I messed with it. It should rotate smoothly by hand.
