hey guys thanks for the help in advance as winter temp starts to fall in and i always find my bike starts very hard to the point sometimes it dont want to start so this hasnt yet but i can tell it struggels, so when i was getting new oil for my old bike the guy explained bout differant weights for summer or winter weather so would chaning the oil will it help it start better cause i wouldnt mind riding more in the winter as long as it dont snow on me lol

Could be a number of things. Around here its about 40 and my '12 starts right up on regular 20-50 oil. It'll start a lot colder than that as well. My guess is there is probably another issue at hand. I'd start with checking all your connections and go from there.
i run lucas 20/50 into the teens for winter riding, colder than that i take the car or sport touring with heated grips and seat hahahah just let the bike warm up and it will be fine

+1 on the battery tender. Sounds like you have a weak battery. Short trips to the store are not long enough to charge it.

Yeah mine used to start right up in the winter with no trouble, but not so much these days. So I thought I might need a new battery so took the battery out and the positive connection was a little loose, took it over to the battery charger and it started off by taking about two and a half amps and quickly went to two and slightly below. So I think the battery which is two years old is ok and just a loose battery cable. Oh well will see in just about a minute.
sounds like the battery , I had the same problem with my Sportster ,turned out the negative cable was loose on the engine , never had a problem again and the factory battery lasted 6 years until I traded the bike in.
