i need help i ride a 96 dyna wide glide no matter what i do it over heats in traffic ive added a lockhart oil cooler smaller filter bigger filter royal purple synthetic oil daytona bike week main street stop and go the bike pings gets nasty hot.. can some one steer me in the right direction.. thaks tattoo
You might want to have your oil pump pressure checked. Also, what oil filter are you using as the new filters might be restricting your oil flow. I am assuming your bike is carbed. Did you do any mods to the carb?
You state the bike pings... that's a result of running lean... and that will destroy an engine ina heart beat AND cause the engine to run hot... get a tune...
thanks for all the help guys the only thking ive done is take the big 8 inch round air cleaner off and the filter and put on a after market s&s tear drop air cleaner and filter and of course ive changed the plugs to screamin eagle hi pro plugs and the wire the oil filter iver tried 4 diffrent kinds i have a fram on there now ive used 2 harley filters one small and one large then a wic filter now this longer fram one and i just had this lockhart oilcooler installed thinkin that would help i do have a 2 into 1 harley header pipe and muffler with no baffle in it .. other than that jus a lot of chrome ..
Your intake flows somewhat more air than your stock one, but your exhaust flows way more. You couldn't have done a better job of making your bike lean if you tried. Which I guess you did, so good job. I don't know if you're referring to a 1996 bike or a 96inch bike but either way rejet or remap respectively.
Also, Run the extra long HD oil filters your bike came from the factory with. Bigger filter holds more oil... better cooling.
Make sure it's the xlong filter for an EVO. The valving is different in the twin cam filters.
