Default There'd be a box under yonder!

I recon that got your attention!

Anyway, I had the 103 stage 2 done on my SGC and the other day someone asked me what that box was under the voltage regulator.

I told him it must the charcoal canister for the evap system I guess!

So my question is what exactly is this and why didn't they take it off when they did the stage 2 on the bike?

Can I take it off, or do I still need it?

Here is a picture of it...

I've never seen one like that, what connects into it?

On the left side of the bike there are 3 hoses that come out of it. 2 of them go up the frame and go under the gas tank.
The third one goes up only about 6 inches and then has a U shaped rubber hose on it, looks to me like a vent hose.
I wouldn't be surprised if it is the charcoal canister, they used to be round on the older Dynas, I think now they are square to make it look more modern.

If that is what it is, why wouldn't the mechanic take it off unless it needs it for the computer, fuel evap system. I am sure there would be a check engine light if the gas cap was left off or the evap system had a leak in it.

California, you got to have smog crap on there all over the place.

The mechanic did not take the evap canister off because it would be illegal to do so.
It has no effect on performance or your mods.
You can take it off and the Ca smog ****'s would never know until Ca bikes need a smog check. That day is coming.

I think I remember someone on here mentioning on the newer bikes if you remove the canister you'll get a check engine light. You could probably just unplug it and find out. I didn't have that problem with my '09 though, but that uses a different computer system than your '13.
