I'm no engineer and I have no first hand experience, but you've had no replies so I'll be the first to post something.
Most of the people I've talked to that have raised their tanks and run windshields report that it helps the updraft considerably. I think the consensus is that raising the tank results in less felt wind. HOpe that helps.
