Default chrome inner primary help....

2006 Wideglide FXDWGI
Mine came with a black inner primary. Part numbers stamped into the back of it are...
60681-06 (Paint)
60757-06 (Chrome)

My Harley catalog shows part number 60792-06C

I need to know which one I need. My transmission case is not cut out for the 2 missing locating dowels so I am thinking I must need an inner primary that also isn't cut out for those 2 missing locating dowels.

The Harley catalog states that the 60792-06C is for 06 and later FXDWG and 07 and later Softail models which means it must have the cut outs for the 2 dowels. Wouldn't that be a problem?

Any help is appreciated.

I called around for that. The average price I was quoted is around $300.00
I can buy a brand new one from the dealership for $350.00

I can buy a brand new one in the box on Ebay for around $225.00 but I can't figure out which part number I need.

'06 twin cams did not have the locating dowels between the transmission case and the inner primary. The dowels were added in '07.

Chromemasters web page has $185 to $260 for inner primary depending on model.

I know and that poses a question. My transmission case is not drilled out for dowels but the new chrome primary that the dealerships want to sell me is part number 60792-06C which covers 06 dyna and 07 softtail which means it is drilled out for those 2 dowels. My question is will this be a problem if I install an inner primary that is drilled out for the 2 dowels on my transmission case which is not.
If I was able to find part # 60757-06 that would be perfect because its the chrome version of the black one I have that is not drilled out for those 2 locating dowels.

Is no problem as long as you leave the dowels out of course.

Yep, I agree with DCLXVI. The only potential for problems would be if the surface where the dowels are is also a seal. I don't think that it is but someone else might be able to answer that for sure.

Yea, there are no seals where the 2 dowels are. I certainly appears that part # 60792-06C is what I need because its the only one they sell now.

This is getting more and more complicated.

OK, I have a 2006 FXDWGI

I need a chrome inner primary. My Wideglide is not drilled for the 2 missing locating alignment dowels like most all of the 2006 Dyna 6 speeds.

The part number I took off is 60681-06 which is black
My 2006 parts manual states part number 60757-06 is the chrome version but they don't make that part number any more. This part is the chrome version of what I have and it is not drilled for the locating alignment dowels.

The dealership is telling me I need 60792-06. This primary is drilled out for the dowels. My Harley catalog calls it 60792-06C
There is a local guy who has part number 60757-06A and he is telling me it came off a 2007 FXDWGI. The 60757-06A is also drilled out for the dowels. I am thinking that's what the A means.

Basically my question is... does anybody know if part # 60792-06 is the same as 60757-06A?
