2004 fxdi tachometer
2004 fxdi tachometer looking for a aftermarket tach. hd dealer said any single fire would work 1. pos to speedo pos. 2. neg. to speedo neg. 3. signal to #3 on ecm. all others say any tach. with tach. adapter for efi? localcustomizer says have to be hd tach? anyone tried after market on 04-05 injected? how and what did you use and does it work good?

I had an aftermarket Drag Secialties brand tach on my 2005 for a few minutes. Seemed to work fine, and sounds like your dealer has given you the correct information regarding connections, power, ground, and ecm pin3.
