Default Lower Dyna Shocks

All

My wife has a 2009 Dyna Super Glide (FXD) and she wants to lower it an inch. I saw some specs on the Street Bob and it has a 1 inch lower seat height. Does anyone know if that is attributable to a different seat or lower shocks or both.

The shocks on the FXD measure at 12.5" from center of eye to center of eye while on the bike. Does anyone have a similar measurement for the Street Bob?

I know I can do lowering blocks and spend a ton of money on Burly (don't want to go that low) or Progressive, but the truth of the matter is that I can get takeoff shocks all day for about $50 and would like to explore replacing with OEM shocks from a different model.

My shocks were 12.6" e2e, and I bought 12" stockers from a member on here that were on a '12 dyna (think it was an fxd, not sure though). I think that's about as low as it gets for stock, and a lot of dynas came with that size.

going from 12.5 to 12 - how much did that lower the bike? 1/2" or more?

I didn't measure it. Being that the shocks are slanted, its not going to be a full 1/2", but close. I definitely can tell a difference, both visually and sitting on the bike.

Hi,

I think the current wide glide shocks might be a little smaller also

Thanks

I put progressive suspension 11" shocks on my wife's Dyna, and also did the Progressive Suspension drop in fork springs.. She's 5'3"..

Admittedly, the bike didn't perform as well in the corners due to the low frame, but she wasn't carving out any twisties.

Looked pretty tough that low.

You could get some 12" shocks from a 2010 & newer Dyna. 1/2" can make a difference.
A seat narrower in the front can help too.

The FXD, FXDC and FXDWG had 12.6 inch shocks from 06 to 09 (wg 06-08).
The rest of the 06-09 Dynas had 12 inch shocks.
All the Dynas went to 12 inch shocks in 2010
