Default H-D Muffler Clamp Question

I installed V&H slip-ones using new H-D clamps, but I'm less than 100% sure I did it right. I could only get the clamps to slide on over the muffler end when the edge of the little "bone" deal on the clamp was lined up on top of one of the slots in the muffler. This limited the mounting orientation of the mufflers, and also makes me wonder if I've got as good a seal as I could have. Is there some magic to sliding those things on?

You may want to spread the clamps out some. use a crewdriver to pry them open some. They can be a bit snugg fitting and testy at times.
