awhile back i laid my bike down and it bent up my throttle cable a little bit. nothing to stop it from working properly, but enough that i hate looking at it haha. anyway... is it possible to convert my push/pull throttle so a single cable version? is there any advantage or disadvantage?
i have a single pull cable on my ironhead, but it sucks.
also the bike has a carb with a really tight return spring and i only ride that bike around back roads in town not out in traffic or highways
First cable to pull throttle, second to assure it returns.
It's your life.
I know from experience that a stuck throttle can ruin your day.
If the throttle was to stick.. wouldn't you just be able to pull the clutch in and shut the bike off? Also, wouldn't it stick with or without a return?

Yes it would still stick. But with the return cable, you roll forward and the return cable closes the throttle body. With no return cable it sticks you can't do anything but shut it down and stop.
I have an internal throttle setup from Exile Cycles which can not be used with a return cable. It has been on the bike for 8 years or so, first with the stock carb and now with a Mikuni. Never had a problem and I do not miss looking at the cables hanging off the bars.
