I know many of you
Have cut in dyna shock pockets.Has anybody tried removing the glide shock pocket ? I can't see having 2 shock pockets and one shock lol.
Anyone have any success with this ?
Or anyone tried widening their bags an inch or so successfully ?
If anyone has tried this and succeeded please chime in with some pointers and pics
I have modded a set to fit around the dyna shocks but i have not yet removed the glide pocket, although I am considering doing that and some aesthetic changes. Last summer I bought a parts lot off Ebay from an HD dealer that included several gas tanks, tour pack parts, and mostly touring saddlebags. I bought a couple used bags of ebay so I ended up with 7 complete sets. I sold a set of police bags, and used one set on mine but still have 5 sets (1 fiberglass set, the rest ABS). Want i want to do next is incorporate a filler panel to the rear and flatten the inside, as to move the whole bag closer in, although i may lose a little room inside. Widening would be possible but alot of work. If you combined the outer 2/3's-3/4's of a left and right bag into one bag you could widen it and remove the glide pocket at the same time(same with the lids), it would require 2 complete sets to do it but it could be done.
I was thinking more split the bag and lid right up the center , lay some flat glass and cut it into 1inch strips ... Glass those strips in where ya can and then lay the curved areas by hand ..... Thoughts on that?
I thought about removing this pocket. But before I attempt that I want to see if its possible to mount a compressor in that area to use for an air ride suspension. Thats not going to happen until I am able to get the cash for the parts.
