Default Back Orders

So, back on the 17th, I decided to go ahead and finish the wife kit on my bike, but along with that, I was able to get permanant saddlebags to replace the throw overs I was using! Ever so excited I decided to run on down to the local stealer and make my purchases!

Low sissy bar, pad, and supports IN STOCK! Now were cookin!
But the stealer said they would have to order the bags and the laydown license plate with turn signal relocation, 7 to 10 days and I would have em.

I am HORRIBLE about waiting, but decided that what I was ordering is what I really wanted (along with nothing else they were stocking anyway) so I said go ahead.

So today I call to check on where my stuff that I already paid for is, and they said "Oh, it's on back order til Apr 2nd for the bags and Apr 6th for the license plate kit."

I got no call or notification, nothing, and they didn't warn me of anything like this when I paid for everything. Worse yet, no apology when I started to get a little upset over the phone.

Harley needs to make new shirts off an old style.....

There is very little I will buy directly from the dealer for this reason. Last summer I ordered a set of pipes and when the same thing that happened to you happened to me I cancelled the order. I then orderedand got them from Eastern. I was SURPRISED to see how fast they came. Shocked, actually.

The only thing I'll buy from the dealer now are parts that only the dealer stocks.

Agree with eastern great customer service and the shipments get to Cali quick. Same thing about American Classic and Discount Motorcycle parts.

I suspect this is more to do with your dealer than HD, or just bad luck.

A few days before I collected my new FXDC I made enquires with the dealer about the Sundowner solo seat. The parts guy said they wasn't one in stock anywhere in the UK...or even the European distribution parts centre, so it would have to go on back order from the USA, which would be about 4-6 weeks.
So I thought about it for a week and then decided that I would go for it and order one anyway.

So, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed when just under 3 weeks later I get a call from the parts guy saying....."Your seat has just come in".

Eastern's website says no retail sales.... how do you buy from them?
I've had a racetuner on backorder for 3 weeks and the dealer says "sometime within the month of April.... I hope"

I want my pipes!
