Fxr4
Ok, it's not quite been the day I expected it to be. I was out having breakfast with my wife before running some errands today. I'm driving along a small highway and I see what I thought was an FXR4 in front of the local Honda/KTM dealer. So I hang a hard right--my wife's still pissed off--and pull into the parking lot.
I walked over and low and behold it's a nearly new (6k miles), mint condition FXR4 that they have a sign on that says "2000 Low Rider."
Hmm....these guys don't know what it is? The title says FXR4, but hey it's a Honda dealer so whatever. I walk over and they are asking 6999 for the bike, recently lowered from 7499. I'm not sure it's worth either of those prices but oddly I wanted this bike. They just put in a new battery, serviced the whole thing, new tires front and rear, really nice.
So I asked the guy what he's wiling to do and I told him he isn't going to do very well selling that bike at his dealership. Not because it's a harley but it's a 14 year old bike that can't be financed. The entire time I was there it was full of young squids buying CBR's with no money down 14.99 financing like a credit card.
The above coupled with the fact that the sales guy goes, "I couldn't tell you a thing about this bike."
They didn't know where the key went.
So I told the salesman, I had 5500 bucks on me that I was supposed to do something else with and said here's my one and only offer, 5500 bucks out the door. He balked, I started walking out and the manager came over and said we'll take the deal. It had been there since the middle of the winter after being traded for a snow mobile. Actual price 5562.40 with tax, DMV, etc so I kicked in the extra money.
I had to tell him before I left that it wasn't a Low Rider but he was counting his hundreds and couldn't have cared less.
Luckily there was a helmet in the back seat of my truck, I hit the GEICO iPhone app, insured it, got a temp tag and drove out. I love this thing. It runs like a top, doesn't leak and handle like a dream.
I don't now if this was a good deal or not but a low mile, super clean big twin for 5.5k I'm a buyer.
So I guess you never know what you find just driving around.
Here it is sitting a the dealer.

I had to do an internet search on this bike because I have never seen one. I guess they only made 900 of these bikes in 2000 and it is the last one to have an Evo engine. It sounds like you got a great deal on a pretty rare bike. It's definitely a conversation starter.

Bet I could have flipped it here the same day for at least a clear grand, maybe two; that's a great deal on that bike, hard to believe you'd get it like that from a dealer. Deals like that are gone in an hour or two of hitting Craig's List here.
