So I am taking a nice leisurely ride into work (because who wants to be at work on a beautiful day). Stop at a stop sign, give it some gas, let out the clutch and the RPMs suddenly jump but I don't have the power I should. As I go to shift to 2nd gear, RPMs at idle are about 2x higher than normal. Shift into gear, the bike bogs down and not much power still. I'm less than a quarter mile to work, so I put it in neutral and coast. RMPs still at least twice what they normally are. Do a quick rev of engine, RPMs up to 2,000, bike sounds odd, no normal throaty exhaust sound.

Any thoughts?

 

Not sure but it sounds like your clutch is not engaging.

 

Crank possition sensor... what code did the bike throw? or did it

 

No engine code. RPMs at idle now are 1250ish, prior to the ride in this morning they were 600ish. Oil temp from the ride in this morning was 183.

Just checked oil, it looks ok other than needing to be changed. Engine still sounds "off". I do have an exhaust leak (exhaust nut fell off) but bike sounded normal this morning until the "event" and RMPs were running as usually.

Do I need to have it towed, or am I OK riding it to a shop?

Idle was set too low by shop. Maybe it was 750ish not 600. Tough to tell on the Dakota Digital's unless you put it in RPM mode, which I never really did until today to look at things.
