Default Something is Loose!

I've had my new bike a week or so. At first, the damn thing vibrated so much, I didn't notice it, but I put these SE mufflers on it, that got rid of a lot of the vibration. Anyway, I started noticing that every time I hit a bump, something moves. I feel it from my feet back. I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem. I'm taking it to the dealer on Saturday to let them look at it. I was just curious in the mean time. I checked the battery, it's solid.

Check the exhaust mounts and every other fastener. This is something you should do every now and then anyway. Put a wrench on the tank bolts, they may seem tight but even a 1/4 turn can make the difference.

I had the same thing on my 06 Super Glide. Almost like the rear motor mount was loose.I have replaced and shimmed my front motor mount and gone over all my motor mount bolts, I don't notice it anymore. I don't know if I got used to it or if it went away. As for vibration, my old shovel is way smoother than my Dyna, at least up to 70-75 mph. My Dyna definately feels best mid to upper rpm's.

Check to make sure the bolt holding your seat in place is tight. I've seen those be pretty loose.

Check to see if your shoes tied.

Second that. After riding my 2010 FXDWG swapping to my shovel (81 FXEF) it feels like flying on a carpet. Incredible that 70s suspension is better than 00s... Even back then it wasn't all that...
Anyway: I have the same problem as TS: when I'm hitting bumps it feels like something is hitting almost metal on metal (more like: metal hitting rubber), so it MIGHT be the engine hitting the front motor mount which I've spaced to 1 mm from the engine (factory spec) and on the other end with some washers to the frame...
I guess it comes with how the bike's constructed. Doesn't feel right though...

I recently found my steering head nut to be not torqued to spec. Did that with a torque wrench to make sure it was correct and now I dont feel the same looseness as I did before. Check that out.

You say every time you hit a bump something moves.. I have that problem too it is my butt from having to ride these rough *** okie-homer roads. Seriously though it may be your motor mounts.

A couple years ago, when I hit a bump, I heard a clunk. Drove me nuts, front gas tank bolts were loose.
