I have recently picked up a 2007 Street Bob at a bargain. Is it normal that when the Sidestand is down and bike put into gear the engine doesn't shut off. Where is the sensor located on this machine?
I own a 2014 iron & the Sidestand has a cut off switch. How does this differ to the 2007 Street Bob. The bike is modeled in Km & not miles as such am sure thus is an international model.
I am not familiar with your countries road regulations but from my understanding all bikes registered for the road in Europe require that kill switch installed or it is not road legal. Again I am just some American that has spoken to riders from Europe, by no means an expert.
Maybe the previous owner removed the switch? Or it is malfunctioning?
Historically, US bikes do not have such a thing. International bikes may have them. Just like California bikes require catalytic converters, bikes sold in other states do not.
Buells had them. And most of them were bypassed. The vibrations, and and bumps on the road, would cause the big heavy stands to bounce, causing ignition cut-out. I know both of mine were bypassed.
I don't think a US Spec Harley ever had them though.
