lol, sorry man. I know you’re a stickler for details like me so I couldn’t not mention it. I feel ya on the turn signals though. My headlight is crazy obnoxious so I don’t get ignored at night. Looking at pics of my old T-Sport, I’m wondering if you can space the headlight up a tiny bit if it’ll even out that gap. Nothing you can do about the mounting I suppose. Stock T’s have slightly oversized mounting holes for assembly tolerances but not much adjustment really.

You have to have it to appreciate how wonderful OCD is.
I worked 30 years with a crew whose work ethos was always "close enough for government work".
By definition that's: Measure it with a micrometer, mark it with a piece of chalk, and cut it with an axe.
Drove me nuts.

You can see in the sideview pic I posted the top of the headlight is probably a 1/4" further away from the bezel than the bottom. I can bring the top bracket out and get the fairing lined up better from top to bottom (which should fix the top gap) but it's going to suck. Also, I don't know if I can get a torque wrench on the riser bolts with the fairing still mounted and yeah, I'm a torque sticker. I did pull the windshield off entirely today because I noticed it was riding lower on the left than right and figured I might as well figure out ARP's now than alter.

After all the nice things I said about the OG fairing I am going to bitch about the friggin windshield mount. The top bolts are 1/4-20 that bolt into the billet adjustable arms, the bottom bolts though are 10/28's or something (I didn't measure) attached to well nuts. Problem there is the well nuts are just floating around because the mounting holes in the fairing are huge! Really bad form there. So I ran over to Ace hardware and to my surprise they had 1/4-20 well nuts that perfectly fit what I need, Unfortunately, the OD on the well nuts was ~.48 and the hole in the fairing is ~.40. I found my best bet was to use some 80 grit and sand them down while attached to a drill. It worked but took a minute. You can see the rinky-dink well nut that came with the fairing on the left. So now I'm waiting for new bolts and flat nylon washers to show up so I can bolt the windshield back on, so I've got time to R&R the fairing if needed.

EDIT: Man yer bike is Purty!

LMFAO!

My wife told me, her grandfather said that saying used to be positive when it was first coined and was used as a compliment. My grandfather, God rest his soul, worked as a civilian for the Navy at Pearl Harbor for most of his life, was there during the attack too. If he was alive, I could ask him.

So, I have a question. Have you guys ever gotten a new shiny (fill in the blank) and told yourself you were going to be SUPER careful on install; even more careful than the last time you were SUPER careful and had dreams of how it'll look showroom fresh? Then the realty sets in after you're R&R'd said shiny part 17 times that you probably could/should have been even MORE careful? Well, I have and just did again. You guys probably won't see any change in the first pic below, but the windshield is now sitting where it should be, properly spaced on both sides from the fairing and now bolted in with ARP 1/4*20's at all 4 points and it was a BITCH. Because the windshield curve doesn't match the fairing curve (or maybe it's due to hole placement?) the bottom 2 well nuts are being pulled out of their bores at an angle. The nut portion is catching behind the fairing so it "should" be secure, but I am not happy about the design.

As a follow up on the headlight gap on top, after careful investigation the only way I can fix it is to raise the headlight higher, there is no clearance anywhere else but up. That maybe on the docket for next winter. Oh, and now that I'm looking at that picture, it looks like my headlight is no longer aligned. FM

Decided to attack the rear rim, since I can't actually make that any worse. Used some good old Adams stuff and it came out great. It also cleaned the she-et out of my chain.

Minor update. finished cleaning everything, engine, tranny, frame, undercarriage, etc. then installed some new Cometic gaskets. I R&R'd the Thunderheader a bunch of times without replacing them and they were looking rough.

EDIT: Forgot to add that while planning to get the gas tank back on, I noticed that I got overzealous on my wire cleanup/tuck and stuffed the fuel pump plug up in the frame backbone. Sooo, I guess I'm doing some undoing and redoing today.

Got the wiring re-sorted and the tank reinstalled. Just have the Thunderheader left to reinstall (man, I hate installing that pipe!) and some fine tuning/setup and it's a wrap for winter.

Now that you got nothing to do might as well paint the inside of your garage!

Make it something really cool, some 60's black-light acid trip stuff
