No, you shouldn't need extensions at all, you would be moving them much closer to where everything connects inside the frame than they are now if your signals are mounted to the bars currently. My plan was to not cut anything and just tuck the extra inside the farm behind the head tube.
I actually got these because i was doing taller bars and didn't want to have to do extensions but then it ended up that they were just barely long enough for the bars i got so i could leave them on the bars.
