Default Wire a stereo to turn off with key

Hi
I bought a Jensen stereo for my bike and mounted it to the bars.
I was wondering where to wire it so when I turn on the bike it comes on?
If I run it to the battrey the stereo will draw power even if turned off.

This is the stereo Jensen MS30RTL mounted it in a 3 inch cup holder.
And used some 3 inch spot lights to mount 3 inch JL audio speakers.
Ill try to get pics and post them.

Thanks

Not sure what model bike you have but you should get a service manual with wire diagrams for your specific year and model. When I added a tach to my bike I just tapped into a switched (with ignition) wire in the speedometer harness under my dash.

Also, my buddy installed this same model radio in his pontoon boat. He incorporated a toggle switch so he can still listen to the radio when the boat engine is off.

For a stereo you will use a relay. The high current side will go from battery to fuse relay to radio. The switch side will be tapped into your accessory circuit. If the radio has a memory wire, that will require uninterrupted battery power.

Ron, you can buy a Namz 12v "T" tap or the Harley version for about $20. This will be a plug and play harness that will have 4 pigtails, 2 are hot to the battery and the other 2 are hot when key is on. If you have a Canbus equipped bike it plugs into your harness under the seat it is a safe way to wire up. It is about a 1 hr install incl seat r/r
